Barbing Castle

History of Barbing Castle+
Barbing Castle was already mentioned in the 12th century as being in the possession of the Lords of Barbing. In 1487, ownership transferred to the Prince-Bishopric of Regensburg and later to the Counts of Thurn und Taxis. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt. In 1770, the castle was converted into a palace. From 1826-32, it served as the summer residence of the Regensburg Bishop Johann Michael Sailer.
