Babenhausen Castle
In 1538, Anton Fugger acquired the castle, which had existed since 1237, and had it completely rebuilt in 1541. The current facade design was created in 1845 in the Neo-Gothic style. The complex of various buildings – including the Rechbergbau, the "New Castle", the West Wing, the Chancellery Building, and various outbuildings – is essentially grouped around two courtyards. The parish church of St. Andrew is directly attached to the castle.
The Fugger Museum is located in the West Wing and the New Castle. It displays exhibits from over 500 years of Fugger family and company history. In the "Ancestral Hall" of the New Castle, visitors on a guided tour can see oil paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries with portraits of numerous family members.
The castle park is publicly accessible during opening hours.
