Auerose Castle
Auerose Castle, also known as Auerose Manor, is a manor house in Neu Kosenow, district of Auerose, and is located about seven kilometers south of Anklam in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
After the Auerose estate passed from the possession of the von Schwerin family to the von Borcke family in the 18th century, Franz Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm von Borcke had a representative manor house built in the Neo-Gothic style in 1848/1849. In 1902, the building was transformed in the Neo-Baroque style and the corner tower was erected.
In 1945, the von Borcke family was dispossessed and expelled by the communists. Apartments were set up in the manor house, and the house was inhabited by several families until after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In private ownership since 1992, the building has only been partially restored to date.
Building+
The manor house was built in 1848/49 as a square, two-story plastered building with a high basement and a northeastern corner tower with a curved dome. The main facade on the south side is ten-axis with a two-axis central risalit. This has a pointed-arch double portal and an elaborate frontispiece with an oculus (architecture). The driveway in front of the facade is double-ramped. In addition to Neo-Baroque style elements, the building also features Art Nouveau elements.
The entrance hall extends over two floors and is equipped with rich wood carvings from the time of its construction.
