To be privately owned

The castle was built in 1591 and destroyed by the Swedes in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. In the following decades, Johann Georg Bauer of Heidenkam, a councilor from Landshut, had it rebuilt. In 1756, the castle came into the possession of the Counts Preysing-Hohenaschau. In 1774, Simon Rottmanner acquired the estate and established an exemplary agricultural enterprise here. In 1851, Ast Castle became the property of estate owner Joseph von Hirschberg, who carried out renovations and additions in the mid-19th century, including the new construction of the castle chapel.
