Ajmanov Castle
Ajmanov Castle, also known as Ehrenau, is a historic structure in Slovenia with a tumultuous past. Originally built in the 17th century, it now serves as a monastery, offering visitors a glimpse into its changing history and spiritual present.
History+
The construction of Ajmanov Castle took place in 1679 under the patronage of Franc Matija, the governor of Škofja Loka. In 1746, the estate changed hands and was sold to Adam Dinzl Angerburg. The castle received its current name in the late 18th century, named after one of its owners at the time. In 1918, ownership passed to Marija Guzelj, née Detela, and later to the Demšar family, who held it until World War II. On April 30, 1944, the castle was set on fire by partisans and completely destroyed. After the war, it was rebuilt and has since housed an Ursuline monastery.
