The castle was first mentioned around 1170 (Heinricus de Athelhusen) as being in the possession of the Lords of Adlhausen. The owners changed several times - Ergoldspeck von Adlhausen, in 1443 the Lords of Gaunkofen, in 1478 Ulrich Geltinger (as a fief), in 1545 Veit Lung, in 1642 Tobias Schrenk von Notzing, until 1763 the Guggemoos family, in 1763 Anton von Wadenspanner, Count Daun, Count Buttler, Baron von Höffelin, Lord von Bäumler, Prince von Wrede and Lord von Schmaus.

Baugeschichte

In the 17th century, the castle was rebuilt. In 1913, it burned down and was subsequently rebuilt.
