Adldorf Castle
Adldorf Castle is a castle in Adldorf, Lower Bavaria, a district of the municipality of Eichendorf in the district of Dingolfing-Landau. It was built in 1602, severely damaged several times, and completely rebuilt in 1906 after a fire. The castle also has its own brewery.
Adldorf Castle was built in 1602. It was severely affected by the fighting in the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) and had to be renovated several times. In 1836, the castle and a large part of the adjacent brewery burned down. Arson is believed to have been the cause. It was rebuilt just one year later.
Many people found employment in the castle. Auxiliary staff who worked in agriculture, farmhands and maids, gardeners, brewmasters, and administrative officials. At the top was a Hofmark administrator, who assisted the Hofmark lord legally and economically. At the end of the 19th century, the Hofmark lordship ended, followed by the independent municipality of Adldorf, which belongs to the greater municipality of Eichendorf.

The oldest document dates from 1160. The Counts of Ellenbrechtskirchen mention an "Eggerich de Arlendorf" in it. The local Adldorf family can be traced back to 1482. The ducal urbarium of 1301 states that Adldorf was in the possession of the Duke of Bavaria. It is presumed that Adldorf was granted several times by the dukes and then repossessed. Thus, it was initially in the hands of the Leiblfinger, later the Eschlbecker held it, then the Alben, and around 1500 the Schöllner or Scheller.
Otto Heinreich von Fränckhing began to unite the Hofmark in his hands around 1600 through purchase, exchange, and inheritance payments. His family ruled over the Hofmark residents until 1722. The Counts of Tattenbach then took over the Hofmark Adldorf. Heinrich Count von Tattenbach died childless on October 3, 1821. Therefore, the property passed to his nephew Maximilian Arco Valley. Due to a significant increase in names, the Counts of Arco have called themselves Counts of Arco auf Valley since 1854.
