Naumburg Castle
The Historic "Schlösschen"+
The Schlösschen was erected in 1543 by Bishop Nikolaus von Amsdorff as a residence. In the 19th century, the castle was expanded.
Architectural Features+
The building combines elements of late Gothic and early Renaissance architecture. Particularly noteworthy are the ornate gables and the impressive main portal.
Interior Design
Inside, several rooms with original stucco ceilings and wall paintings from the 16th century have been preserved. The "Rittersaal" (Knight's Hall) is particularly impressive.
History of Ownership+
After the death of Bishop von Amsdorff, the Schlösschen changed hands several times. It was owned by various noble families before it became municipal property in the early 20th century.
Current Use
Today, the Schlösschen houses a museum and is used for cultural events. The historic rooms can also be rented for private celebrations.
