Schallenburg Castle
Schallenburg is located in Brühl in the district of Schwadorf and is one of the few still inhabited moated castles in the Rhineland.
The lowland castle was first mentioned in the 12th century. The name of the castle refers to the Cologne patrician family von Schall zu Bell as the original owners. The current building was renovated in 1694. The park and the outbuildings were built in the 19th century.

The two-part castle complex is a transversely rectangular, two-story, five-axis, plastered brick building with two opposing, round, three-story corner towers with a three-winged timber-framed outer bailey.
