Sandbjerg Slot (Castle)
The Sandbjerg castle is located on the peninsula Sundewitt a few kilometers northwest of Sonderborg. The manor was mentioned in 1500 for the first time. The manor was founded in 1570 by Duke Johann of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg. He remained for nearly a century in the possession of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg Burger lines, then he was drafted after a bankruptcy of the ducal house in 1667 by the Danish krone. 1673 was a sale to the Reventlow family, who belonged Sandbjerg to 1930. The mansion was built in its present form to the 1788th 1930 was sold to the Dahl family, who donated the property in 1954, the University of Aarhus. The manor house and outbuildings are used by the University as a conference center.
