Salesianerinnenkloster Koblenz

The convent was established in 1863 when the Salesian Sisters founded a community in Moselweiß. An ancient vaulted cellar beneath the building suggests its earlier use as a fortified house. In the same year, a girls' boarding school with an attached school was opened. Between 1866 and 1867, the Neo-Gothic convent church of the Visitation of Holy Mary was constructed and consecrated in December 1867. During World War II, specifically in the air raid on Koblenz in December 1944, the convent was completely destroyed. Reconstruction took place from 1945 to 1948. In May 1986, the Salesian Sisters left the convent. Subsequently, a sports boarding school moved into the premises of the former boarding school. The convent church was taken over by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X in October 1986 and blessed, with the Fraternity acquiring parts of the former convent grounds in 1998.

The convent is situated in the city of Koblenz, an independent city in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Moselweiß district.

Today, the former convent buildings house a sports boarding school. The convent church of the Visitation of Holy Mary is used by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X. The entire area is surrounded by a partially preserved rubble stone wall. The former school building features a distinctive three-quarter tower with a dome and lantern at one corner. The Neo-Gothic church is a simple plastered building with tracery windows and a round-arch frieze.
