A predecessor building was already mentioned in 1138. In 1370, ownership passed to the Lords of Rußwurm, who rebuilt the house in 1606. After this, ownership changed in 1655 to Hans Georg von Rußwurm zu Hellingen, later to the von Miltitz family, in 1772 to Johann Karl August von Uttenhoven, and since January 2013 to Robert Eberhardt and the Kulturerbe Thüringen e.V. society.
