Steinegg Castle (Ruin)
Steinegg Castle is a castle ruin on a high mountain ridge 400 meters away from the ruin of Roggenbach Castle near Wittlekofen, a district of the city of Bonndorf in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg.
The hilltop castle was built in the 12th century by the Lords of Steinegg, who were vassals of the Dukes of Zähringen. After the extinction of the Lords of Steinegg, the castle passed to the Nellenburgers. After several changes of ownership, the castle was destroyed in 1525 during the Peasants' War, as was Roggenbach Castle.
Of the former castle complex, the keep, the remains of a six-meter-high wall, and the 20-meter-deep neck ditch are still preserved.
