Rotenstein Castle (Ruin)

Rotenstein Castle, also known as Ober-Rothenstein, is a ruined castle near the Hausen district of the city of Rottweil in the Rottweil district in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle ruin is located at the Eschach crossing to Wildenstein Castle on the old road from Rottweil to Villingen.
The castle was mentioned in 1308, presumably in the possession of Counts Rudolf and Albrecht von Hohenberg, then for a long time in the possession of the Bletz von Rotenstein family, and was sold to the Imperial Abbey of Rottenmünster in the 18th century. From 1919, the castle was dismantled. Wall remains of the former castle complex are still preserved.
