History of the Castle+
The castle was first mentioned in 1248. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was damaged and subsequently rebuilt. Around 1700, the castle was damaged by a fire. In 1830, the castle burned down after a lightning strike. In 1910, a castle winery was established on the castle grounds.
Architectural Features+
The castle complex consists of a main castle and a bailey. The main castle is a rectangular building with four corner towers. The bailey contains residential and utility buildings.
The Great Hall
The Great Hall is the largest and most impressive room in the castle. It was used for banquets, celebrations, and other events. The hall features a magnificent fireplace and a vaulted ceiling.
The Castle Chapel
The castle chapel is a small, intimate room used for religious services. It contains a beautiful altar and several stained-glass windows.
