Nienburg Castle (Ruin) (Ostenfelde)
Nienburg Castle is a former moated castle in a forest east of the Ennigerloh district of Ostenfelde in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The moated castle, mentioned in the 14th century as "castrum tor Horst", was rebuilt in 1422 as a bishop's fief ("Nygeborg"). The owners of the castle were the Lords of Ostenfelde and Droste zu Erwitte.
In 1675, the "New Castle" was destroyed by the soldiers of Dietrich Hermann von Nagel on the orders of Prince-Bishop Christoph Bernhard von Galen.

The remains of the castle are hidden along a hiking trail in an inaccessible, swampy piece of forest and still show the stump of the former keep as well as moats.
According to a legend, a treasure is buried here, guarded by a "giggling and chain-rattling devil".
