History+

The construction of Milandre Castle took place in the second half of the 13th century under the aegis of the Count of Montbéliard. In 1283, the complex changed hands to the Prince-Bishop of Basel, Henry d'Isny. Another change of ownership occurred in 1386, when the castle returned to the Counts of Montbéliard. Finally, in 1461, it once again came into the possession of the Prince-Bishop of Basel. In 1981, the municipality of Boncourt acquired the ruin, which was then extensively restored in 1988.
