The Castle Marktsteinach+

The castle Marktsteinach, whose remains are still visible, was a seat of the noble family, the Lords of Steinach. In the 13th century, the "Veste Steynach" was owned by the Counts of Henneberg and then passed to the Bishop of Würzburg, as did the village. It was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525 and has remained a ruin ever since.
