Lippspringe Castle (Ruin) (Bad Lippspringe)
Lippspringe Castle is the ruin of a moated castle next to the Lippe spring in the spa park of the town of Bad Lippspringe in the district of Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In 1312, the castle was first mentioned as being in the possession of the Paderborn Cathedral Chapter.
In 1482, the castle was refortified after numerous sieges and damages. It was significantly damaged during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), largely destroyed during the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), and subsequently abandoned. From 1785 to 1829, many walls were demolished and the moats filled in.
The castle was inhabited by burgmannen (castle knights). Important burgmann families included the von Westphalen, who had one of their main residences here from 1350, the von Elmeringshausen, and later the von Haxthausen.
From 1906 to 1907, the Kursaal (spa hall) was built on the site of the former main building of the castle. Since 1946, the town of Bad Lippspringe has owned the castle. From 1955 to 1956, it was converted into the current Congress House.

The former castle complex essentially consisted of the core castle, built as a moated castle, and an outer bailey. The remains of the former residential building, those of an administrative building, a surrounding wall, and the historic castle cellar are still preserved.
