Hemmerich Castle (Ruin)
Hemmerich Castle is a castle ruin in the Bornheim district of Hemmerich (Jennerstraße) in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The castle originated on a Roman settlement and was in 1210 in the possession of the knight Albero von Hemberg, a family member of an influential noble family.
The castle received its Rhenish Rococo style after a redesign in the years 1729 to 1733.
After the castle was destroyed by fires in 1869 and 1906, the manor house was rebuilt as a Neo-Renaissance villa according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Graf Mörner. After a third fire in 1945, triggered by released forced laborers of the Second World War, the castle was only a ruin, which after several changes of ownership came into the possession of the Barons von Nordeck and is still in their possession today.
