Ahr Castle (Ruin) (Voerde)

Close to Haus Wohnung stood the stately manor "Haus Ahr", which was built between 1825 and 1830 as a neoclassical country house by Karl Tendering. Previously, there was already a fortified house nearby, founded by the Knights of "Ahr" before 1241. Karl Tendering, whose mother had bought the estate in 1833, built a new manor house in a different location. Haus Ahr gained contact with the wider world through the love romance of the poet Gottfried Keller, who fell in love with Karl Tendering's then 24-year-old daughter, Betty, but found no reciprocation from her. In 1960, Dinslaken Senator Fritz Meyer became the owner of Haus Ahr, where the Burghofbühne Dinslaken temporarily found asylum and space for storing its props.

After the decay of the manor house, the roof turret was secured and lovingly restored by the Voerde Association for Local History and Tourism. It was erected at the entrance to Ahrstraße as a memorial.
