Rosen Castle

The Rosenschlössl is a small castle with a servant's house on the Rosenberg in the eleventh Graz district of Mariatrost. The "Rosenschlösslweg" has also been named after this building since 1948.

Built in 1912 according to the plans of the city master builders and architects W. Burgstaller and A. Zauner as a two-story, freestanding building with a structure strongly articulated by bay windows, loggias, projections and recesses. The steep roof contains a tower room and an attic. The facade shows a transition from Historicism to Modernism. In 1956, the building was completely restored and extended with a tower and a winter garden, which houses a stucco ceiling with putti by the sculptor Erwin Huber. Sculptures by Erwin Huber are also located on the exterior facade and in the surrounding garden. A putto relief on the exterior facade dates from the time of construction.
