Rodt'sches Palais

The palace was built around 1700 by Bishop Marquard Rudolf von Rodt.

Originally conceived as a prestigious residence for the prince-bishops, the building underwent numerous transformations over the centuries. Each era left its architectural and historical mark, making the palace a unique witness to history.

The palace is a prime example of Baroque architecture, characterized by its opulent facades, elaborate stucco work, and spacious interiors. The original plans were likely drawn up by a master builder from the Vorarlberg School, known for its distinctive style.

The Facade

The main facade, facing the market square, impresses with its symmetrical design and rich ornamentation. Large arched windows, pilasters, and decorative elements create a harmonious overall impression.

The Interior

Inside, magnificent halls, salons, and staircases reflect the former splendor. Particularly noteworthy are the ceiling frescoes and the finely crafted parquet floors, which have been preserved in many areas.

Over the centuries, the palace was home to numerous influential personalities. Besides the prince-bishops, it also served as a residence for noble families and later as a seat for various administrative bodies.
