Walshausen Manor
The Walshausen Estate, located south of Hildesheim between Itzum and Heinde on the Innerste river and belonging to Bad Salzdetfurth as part of Heinde, is known as the "Italian villa at the gates of Hildesheim".
The name of the estate was first mentioned in a document from 1146 as "Waleshusen" in the context of Bishop Bernhard I of Hildesheim's donation of property including a mill to the newly founded Hildesheim monastery of St. Godehard. Bernhard I was descended from the Counts of Walshausen. The classical appearance of the current farm complex is essentially due to the redesign and renovation by the Hanoverian court architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves in 1828/9.

The bridge below the estate over the Innerste was rebuilt in 2004 in its typical Laves fish-belly construction. Further Laves bridges are located in the Welfengarten in Hanover and at the Derneburg fish ponds.
