Untermarxgrün Manor

To be privately owned

The manor was owned by Joseph von Engelschall in 1567. Ownership changed to Carl Heinrich Höfer in the 17th century. In 1755, the present manor house was built. In 1780, ownership changed to Gottlob Schmidt. In 1826, the manor burned down and was subsequently rebuilt by Friedrich Gottlob Kretzschmar. Further owners were Gottfried Julius Zeidler in 1901 and the Dietrich family in 1905. The latter renovated the manor between 1910 and 1920. In 1945, the Zeidlers were dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

In 1948, an agricultural school was established in the manor house. From 1960, the District Council of Oelsnitz was housed in the manor house. In 1992, the manor was renovated.
