Treben Manor

Treben is first mentioned in documents in 1181 as a Sorbian village. The manor is first mentioned in 1329 as a moated castle. The owners were the von Bünau family. The current building was erected in 1543 on the walls of the old castle. Later, ownership passed to the Barons von Bielefeld. In 1750-51, the house was rebuilt in Baroque style for Jakob Friedrich Freiherr von Bielefeld. In 1779, ownership passed to Karl Sigismund Aemilius von Uechtritz auf Pomsen. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

In the listed ensemble of the former Treben manor, which includes two other buildings in addition to the manor house, cultural events such as concerts, cabaret, book readings, lectures, and exhibitions regularly take place. It is also the seat of the Pleißenaue administrative community. The northern part of the manor house was originally a castle complex of the Burgraves of Altenburg. After its most recent restoration, the manor house received the Thuringian Heritage Protection Award in 2006. On event days and by appointment, the manor can be visited.
