Sollschwitz Manor

A moated castle in Sollschwitz is first mentioned in 1359 as being owned by Martin von Sollschwitz. Ownership then passed to the von Penzig family and the von Baudissin family. In 1580, the manor house belonging to the castle is mentioned. After this, ownership changed in 1600 to Heinrich von Luttitz, in 1639 to Hans Wolf von Haugwitz, and from 1648-1722 to the von Theler family. Frequent changes of ownership followed. In 1914, Ernst Wuttig bought the property. In 1933, the manor house burned down and was subsequently rebuilt. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

After 1945, the moats were filled in and the building served as a Sorbian cultural center. Today the building stands empty. Due to a lack of investors, the house is in danger of falling into disrepair.
