Early History
The manor house in Schweikershain is first mentioned in 1346. From 1449–1451, it was owned by Kunz von Kauffungen and, after his expropriation, was the cause of the Saxon Princely Abduction. From 1718 until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, the manor house remained in the possession of the von Nostitz-Wallwitz family. Since 1959, it has been used as a retirement and nursing home.
