Porschendorf Manor

The Schlösschen manor is located about 2 kilometers southwest of Zschopau. In 1875, the place was called Schlösschen-Porschendorf, and from 1939, Schlösschen (Erzgeb.).

The first mention of the estate dates from February 9, 1560, when Elector August transferred "the Forwergk Borssendorf in our Ambte Schellenbergk situated above the Zschopa" with all its uses to his chief huntsman Cornelius von Rüxleben. The small castle was used as a signal box. In 1693, C. H. von Einsiedel sold the estate to Rudolf von Metzsch. In 1769, ownership changed to Christian Gottlob Sachse and in 1802 to the Phillip family. Until 1830, local school lessons took place in a barn of the manor. Today, three buildings of the manor, erected at right angles to each other, are still preserved. The two larger ones were farm buildings. The smaller one shows as special features a mansard roof and an octagonal stair tower with a Welsche Haube (Baroque dome). Two round arch portals allow a dating of the building to the second half of the 16th century.

In 1945, the owners were dispossessed by the communists, and the manor house, presumably built in the 18th century, was demolished in 1947. In 1958, the kindergarten was moved into the tower building of the manor and closed in 1996. After renovations, the building is to serve as a daycare center again.
