Langenhennersdorf Manor

Quite secluded, directly on Langenhennersdorfer Dorfstraße, lies a small castle with an adjoining manor. Among its numerous owners were the families von der Oelsnitz, von Cosputh, von Heuß and von Buchner. In 1709, the castle came into the possession of Otto Christian Graf von Zinzendorf und Pottendorf. He was governor of Dresden and supreme commander of all Dresden fortresses. The baroque manor house was built in 1750 on the walls of the old castle, which probably dated from the 16th century. After 1770, the estate had many different owners before it became the Landesversicherungsanstalt Sachsen in 1926. After 1950, Langenhennersdorf was a state-owned farm. However, there is a commemorative plaque on the building itself. It honors Johann Gottlob Lehmann, who was born here on August 4, 1719. He was the founder of modern historical geology and a collaborator of Lomonosov. Lehmann was also a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. He died on January 11, 1767. The castle is still partially inhabited today.
