The Foundation and Early Years as a Monastery

The Benedictine monastery of Goseck was founded around 1041 by Count Palatine Frederick I of Saxony and his wife Agnes. The Romanesque collegiate church, whose impressive remains are still preserved today, bears witness to the architectural mastery of this period. The manor house was built in 1562 by the von Müller family on the walls of a predecessor building.
