The Manor House Grubnitz+
History of the Manor House+

Grubnitz is mentioned around 1320 as Grobanuwicz and in 1350 as the manorial seat of the von Schleinitz family. In the 15th century, the estate was elevated to a knight's estate. After this, ownership changed in 1662 to Fabian von Utenhofen, to the Sahrer von Sahr family, in 1674 to the von Zeidler family, in 1736 to the von Trützschler family, in 1772 to Christoph Dietrich von Plötz, in 1786 to the von Pfister family, in 1849 to Baron von Ferber, and from 1920 until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945 to Anna von Carlowitz. After this, parts of the manor house were demolished.

Architectural Features+

The manor house is a two-story building with a mansard roof. The facade is characterized by simple stucco decorations. A striking feature is the central risalit with a triangular gable, which emphasizes the main entrance. Inside, some original stucco ceilings and wall paintings have been preserved, testifying to the former splendor of the building.

Current Use and Condition+

After 1945, the manor house was used for various purposes, including as a residential building and a municipal office. Due to a lack of maintenance, the building fell into disrepair over the decades. In recent years, initial Sicherungsmaßnahmen (securing measures) have been carried out to prevent further decay. A comprehensive restoration is still pending, but there are efforts to find investors for the preservation and revitalization of this historic building.

Surrounding Park+

The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park, which was probably laid out in the 18th century. Although parts of the original design have been lost, old tree stands and remnants of former paths still bear witness to the historical park landscape. The park offers a peaceful atmosphere and is an important component of the overall ensemble.
