Gallhof Manor

Today's Gallhof is one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses. The first documented mention in 1332 refers to it as Gehlehof - since 1410 as Gallhof, a rural outpost. The Gallhof included manual and draft services from the surrounding villages such as Niedernwöhren, Meerbeck, Hobbensen, Wulfhagen, Horsthof, Hiddensen and Hespe. Around 1645, the old outer bailey was surrounded by a moat, and the entire Gallhof was enclosed by a palisade fence. The half-timbered house that still stands today was built in 1699/70. In 1787, the estate management was dissolved. Gut Brandenburg and Gallhof formed an estate district, with administration falling to the tenant of Brandenburg. In 1973, it was sold to Count Plettenberg. The manor house was renovated from the ground up. In 1985, the Werner couple acquired the Gallhof with its farm buildings! From 1989/1991, the farm building was converted and the west facade and the cellar vault of the manor house were renewed.
