From Manor to Museum
In Auerbach, there were two knightly estates (Rittergüter) since 1696. They were named Rittergut Oberer Teil (Upper Part) and Rittergut Unterer Teil (Lower Part) in 1875. The Rittergut Unterer Teil was owned by the Lords of Planitz. Ownership changed in 1839 to Heinrich von der Bünau, later to Adolf Volkmar Opitz, and since 1912 to the city of Auerbach, which used it as an administrative building. Since 1950, the house has served as a museum.
