Adelwitz Manor

The place originated around the manor of the same name and was already mentioned in documents in 1235 as "Odilwicz" and in 1362 as "Odalitz" in the church register of Blumberg. At that time, the Marienstern monastery in Mühlberg received 2 Hufen in Adelwitz as a gift and bought the money and grain tithes. In 1568, the Meissen Bishop Johann IX. von Haugwitz gave his relative Christoph von Haugwitz three tax-paying farmers in Adelwitz with the option of establishing a manor or outwork there. From 1602, these three farmers with their estates were subject to the von Holtzendorff family.

The village and the manor suffered severe damage during the Thirty Years' War, when the Swedish General Johan Banér burned down the estate. After this, the estate was rebuilt. Ownership changed in 1672 to Johanna von Hartirzsch, in 1699 to Marshal von Bieberstein, in 1745 to the Klotzsch family (who had the current castle built in 1772), in 1835 to Carl Neubauer, in 1872 to Mr. Oerthling and until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945 to the Nette family. After this, the estate served as a Russian commandant's office.

Today, the estate is used as a hotel and conference center.
