Quadtsches Castle

The main building, which extends in an east-west direction along the street, has its entrance on the northern long side, facing the inner courtyard. Below the voluminous two-story rectangular building with a mansard roof is a cellar with a barrel vault. The rustic-simple style is emphasized by rusticated corner pilasters, a string course, and segmental arch windows. The portal is framed by Doric pilasters and crowned by a broken segmental arch pediment. The equivalent of this is the stone double arcade in the stairwell.

During the renovation in 2005, the facade was restored to the strong red paintwork that the property bore in the late Baroque period. The plinth and the sandstone edges on house corners, window, and door reveals are set off in light gray.

The Augustinian priory, founded in 1367 on the site of the present-day castle, was severely damaged on June 4, 1525, during the Peasants' War by rebels under the command of the Dirmstein vassal Erasmus von der Hauben, and never recovered thereafter.

Under the later owners Quadt, the former monastery was converted into a manor house with surrounding farm buildings in the first half of the 18th century. When the French Revolution spread to the Palatinate towards the end of the 18th century, the Quadtsche Schloss was also expropriated and later auctioned off. Thus, in 1803, the local Janson family came into possession of the castle; they made major changes, especially to the functional buildings.
