The Palatium (official castle) and winery of the Würzburg Cathedral Chapter was built before 1295. Between 1295 - 1390, the Palatium was provided with fortifications. From 1405 - 1493, the Palatium was renovated. In 1549, a well was built. During the Seven Years' War, the city was shelled in 1758. The bullet impacts from the war can still be seen on the keep of the Palatium.
