The Palais was built in 1703 by Count Adam von Diemantstein. Later, Count Carl Fran von Horion inherited the property. In 1785, Baron Franz Carl von Hompesch-Bollheim bought the Palais. In 1805, ownership transferred to Count Karl Wilhelm von Spee, who purchased the neighboring building in 1865. The building was destroyed in World War II and subsequently rebuilt. Since 1962, it has housed the City Museum.
