Meerholz Palace

The Palace of the Counts of Ysenburg and Büdingen in Meerholz was built between 1748 and 1751 under Count Karl Friedrich. On the north side, facing Tempelstrasse, the elongated, two-story residential building with a mansard roof is accessible through two entrances with grand staircases. The south-facing show facade of the building is dominated by a column-supported balcony under a triangular gable. The transverse tower with a curved dome, small lantern, and pointed spire was added in the mid-19th century.

The palace, which includes a small park with old trees, served as a widow's and retirement residence for the Ysenburg counts in Meerholz. In 1964, the municipality of Meerholz acquired the building. Since the 1980s, the palace has been in private ownership. It houses a private cultural collection from New Guinea. Visits to the collection are possible by appointment.
