Dürckheim Palace

Apartment

The Palais Pinakothek has been located in the former Palais Dürckheim, a red-striped brick building at Türkenstraße 4 in Munich, built between 1842 and 1844, since May 2006. This gave the three Pinakotheken a new center for art education in the continuously growing Kunstareal Munich, offering attractive entry points to the artworks of the Pinakotheken with changing thematic programs and diverse methodological approaches.

The architect Franz Jakob Kreuter (1813–1889), a student of Friedrich von Gärtner, erected the noble palace on behalf of the Royal Bavarian Chamberlain and Lord High Steward Count Friedrich Wilhelm Alfred von Dürckheim-Montmartin.
