Palais Bentzelschen Hofs
The Baroque building, completely destroyed in 1942 during the Second World War and rebuilt from 1967 to 1970, originally dates back to 1741.
A predecessor building is documented from 1594. This was built by the court chancellor Jakob Bentzel von Steinau as a guesthouse for the Bentzel court.
His son Anselm Franz Freiherr von Bentzel also lived here, who distinguished himself in Mainz city history as curator and reorganizer of the University of Mainz after the dissolution of the Jesuit order.

A Madonna figure adorns the corner of the house facing Christofstraße. The inscription above the entrance reads: FRATERNA POSUIT CONCORDIA DIVINA SERVET PROVIDENTIA (Fraternal unity erected it, divine providence may preserve it).
