New Castle (Büdesheim)
The New Castle in Büdesheim, a district of the municipality of Schöneck in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse, is a modern castle complex next to the Old Castle Büdesheim on the Nidder river.
The castle was built in 1885 by Waldemar Graf von Oriola, who had previously lived in the Old Castle. The architect was Gabriel von Seidl. The castle was owned by the state of Hesse and was temporarily used as a refugee home. Today it serves private residential purposes again.
The castle consists of two interconnected buildings. The southeastern part is designed in Neo-Renaissance style. It features bay windows, half-timbered superstructures, and a stair tower with turrets. The more simply shaped northwestern part of the building has a large fresco by Rudolf von Seitz on the courtyard side.
