New Castle Beihingen

The New Castle Beihingen, also known as Breitenbach's Castle, is a castle in Freiberg am Neckar in the district of Ludwigsburg. It consists of the actual castle building as well as a tithe barn and a Reiken barn, which are connected by walls.

The castle was built in 1573 for Friedrich Schertlin von Breitenbach, who was the son-in-law of Ludwig von Freiberg. In the following years, a tithe barn (1591) and a Reiken barn (around 1600) were built next to the castle. The grounds also included a garden of approximately one hectare. Over the years, the castle changed hands several times until it was finally bought in 1673 by the Lords of Gemmingen-Hornberg. At the end of the 19th century, the original chimney above the western bay window was removed. Today, the castle is the seat of the von Graevenitz family.
