New Manor Schwiessel

New Manor Schwiessel

To be privately owned

The Old Manor House was built in 1735 by Hans Heinrich von Levetzow and his wife Dorothea von Plessen. In 1864, the house and the entire estate were taken over by Henning von Bassewitz. A little later, he had a new manor house (castle) built in the Tudor style in the adjacent park, which unfortunately only remains as a very ruinous structure. But there is hope! As can be seen in the pictures, the castle is currently being renovated. After completion, it is intended to become a meeting place for friends of chamber music. The Schwiessel Manor House, which has been privately owned again since 1996, now houses a café and a guesthouse.
