Metropolitankathedrale Hagia Trias (Bonn-Limperich)

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis established its seat in Bonn-Beuel as early as 1963. With Bonn evolving into the permanent capital of the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1970s, the Metropolis decided to construct a metropolitan center with its own church there. The central location within the then-Federal Republic played a role in this decision, as there were few Orthodox places of worship in Germany at that time. The church was built between 1976 and 1977 according to plans by Klaus Hönig. Its consecration by Metropolitan Irineos took place at Pentecost in 1978. The interior frescoes, covering an area of over 600 m² and created by Christophanis Voutsinas, took 23 years to complete, finishing in 2010. Even after the relocation of the seat of government to Berlin in 1999, the Metropolis remained in Bonn. Notable figures such as Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Federal President Roman Herzog attended a service in honor of Metropolitan Augoustinos in 1998.

The Metropolitan Church Agia Trias is located in the Limperich district of Bonn, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The church is a central building constructed from ochre-toned brick, based on the floor plan of a Greek Cross. An octagonal dome rises above the crossing. On the south side, there is a bell gable featuring three bells. The cathedral can accommodate approximately 400 people and is considered an early example of postmodern architecture in Germany.
