History of the Building+

The palace was built from 1850 to 1870 by Grand Duke Georg of Mecklenburg-Strelitz for his wife Grand Duchess Marie, Princess of Hesse-Kassel. From 1860 to 1880, the palace served as the dower house for the Grand Duchess. From 1950, the Clara Zetkin Extended Secondary School was housed in the palace. From 1997 to 2009, the palace stood empty. Today it is used as a residential building.
