Marienburg Castle
The Marienburg is a privately owned brick building, constructed as a country house, located in the city of Monheim am Rhein.
The building includes a park designed in the style of an English garden with old trees, which is owned by the city of Monheim. Both the Marienburg and the park are listed as historical monuments.
The country house was built from 1879 to 1880 according to a design by the Cologne architect August Carl Lange in the style of Cologne Neo-Gothic as a summer residence for the Cologne district court judge and Reichstag member Eugen von Kesseler. The builder intended the Marienburg to commemorate the main seat of the Teutonic Order in West Prussia, which bears the same name.
Today, the Marienburg primarily serves as a conference and congress center, as well as a venue for various celebrations. Civil weddings are also possible in the building's premises.
