Main Castle

The pleasing Baroque palace, located near the Main river, was expanded or rebuilt in 1735 by Cathedral Canon and Chamber President Ludwig Carl Graf von Ostein according to plans by Balthasar Neumann, adding two side pavilions to the existing "garden house". It was intended to serve as a summer residence. After his death, the palace was initially administered by the Cathedral Chapter and only around 1770 did it come into the possession of the von Ledergerb families.

In 1798, master baker Joseph Eifler acquired the property and established an inn. The next owners, Michael Rückner and Michael Wachter, continued to operate it until 1882, when master tanner Johann Müller acquired the property and set up a tannery. From 1923, Hans Krebs then ran a horticultural business.

These different uses caused structural changes according to the respective needs. Only the current private owner had the Baroque work renovated in style in 1961 and the mansard roof restored to its original condition. The uniformity and coherence are now restored.
