Baranów Sandomierski Castle

The site of the present-day castle was originally occupied by a medieval stronghold, which belonged to the Baranowski family in the 15th century. After a change of ownership to the Górka family in the early 16th century, Rafał Leszczyński acquired the complex in 1569. Under his patronage, construction of the current castle began, likely based on designs by the Italian architect Santi Gucci, and was completed in 1606 under Andrzej Leszczyński. Around 1620, the castle received fortifications with bastions, and in 1625, Giovanni Battista Falconi adorned the interiors with stucco decorations. Following further changes of ownership, including Dymitr Jerzy Wiśniowiecki and Józef Karol Lubomirski, the palace was rebuilt around 1700 under the direction of architect Tylman Gamerski. In 1849, a fire partially destroyed the palace. After another fire in 1898, Stanisław Dolański began reconstruction, during which the room layout was altered and the castle chapel was redesigned in Art Nouveau style. After World War II and renewed destruction, the castle underwent extensive restoration starting in 1950.

The Leszczyński Palace is situated in Baranów Sandomierski in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland, at an elevation of approximately 149 meters above sea level.
