History of the Building+
The castle was built in 1647-49 by the Trier court architect Matthias Staudt for Philipp Christoph von Sötern. In 1731, the castle was damaged by a fire, which completely destroyed the rear stair tower. Afterwards, the castle was rebuilt in the Baroque style by the master builder Christian Kretzschmar. In 1932/33, the castle was converted into an administrative seat.
